Note: Each task document is two-sided. On one side is the Time 1 task, and on the reverse side is the Time 2 task. Please follow the steps below carefully.
- At the time specified in the DQP, distribute the task sheets (from the red envelope) according to the names written on the labels.
- If a student is present for Time 2 who was not present for Time 1, have the student complete the Time 2 task using an extra unused sheet.
- If a student is not present for Time 2 who completed the Time 1 task: You may either (1) Have the student complete the task when s/he returns to the classroom, or (2) Remove the name label and set aside their uncompleted task; do not allow a different student to use the task originally designated for the absent student.
- Please have students work on the task individually. They may refer to their work from Time 1 if they so choose, but do not allow them to change their Time 1 responses.
- After students have completed the Time 2 tasks, the name labels should be removed and discarded. The top part of the label should peel away easily, leaving a shiny backing. You may either: (1) Instruct the students to remove the name label themselves before you collect them; or (2) Have the students hand in the assessments and remove the labels yourself.
- Collect the task sheets and review students’ work on the Time 2 task in order to see how their thinking has changed. You may choose to make a photocopy of their work to keep as reference.
- Place task sheets in red envelope to return to HRI.
