NGSS Obstacles and Progress

Using data from the 2018 NSSME+, this report discusses obstacles to and progress toward the vision of the NGSS. The report also draws on data from the 2012 NSSME, which was conducted just before the NGSS were released. Areas addressed in the report include: teacher backgrounds and beliefs, professional development, instructional objectives and activities, and instructional resources. For several of these areas, data are disaggregated by when states adopted the NGSS.
