2012 NSSME: Status of Elementary School Mathematics

This report describes the status of elementary mathematics instruction based on the responses of 1,038 elementary mathematics teachers across the United States. 

This status report of elementary school mathematics teaching is organized into major topical areas:

• Characteristics of the  teaching force;

• Professional development of teachers;

• Instruction, in terms of time spent, objectives, and activities;

• Resources available for instruction; and

• Factors affecting instruction.
