AREN Evaluation Surveys

The AREN project encompasses a wide variety of efforts in support of reaching its goals. This matrix summarizes the major types of efforts the project is engaged in and indicates what documentation is expected by the project leadership. In addition to documentation for the project’s internal use, team members are expected to facilitate data collection about AREN events for the evaluation. The forms needed for the evaluation can be found on this page. If you are not certain which form is appropriate for your event, please contact us prior to the event at ARENeval@horizon-research.com.

For each event you run, please administer the appropriate survey and complete an Event Information Form. Surveys are intended for events that have the potential to be repeated in the future (by yourself or other AREN partners). The surveys are not intended to be individualized activities (e.g., mentoring a single student; internships) – HRI will document this type of work through other data collection means. If you have questions about whether using these surveys for an event is appropriate, please contact us at ARENeval@horizon-research.com.

Adult Surveys

Adult outreach events are short programs (e.g., presentations, demonstrations, or booths) aimed at generating interest in AREN/NASA. Please administer the Adult Outreach Survey and complete the Event Facilitator Form.

Preservice teacher trainings are educator trainings where the primary audience is preservice teachers. Please administer the Preservice Training Survey and complete the  Event Facilitator Form.

Student Events

Only for use with: Students in grades 3-12 in informal education settings (i.e., not as part of formal classroom instruction) OR college students regardless of education setting.

Extended student events are longer events (e.g., summer camp or college course) designed to develop students’ ability to use AREN technologies so that they can engage with remote sensing data collection and analysis. This survey is not intended to be used with interns or research assistants. Please administer the Extended Student Event Survey and complete the Event Facilitator Form.
