Ailin Cabrera-Zuniga, Research Associate at Horizon Research, Inc. (HRI), received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from NC State University. Prior to joining HRI in 2023, she worked as a Kindergarten teaching assistant for six years. In addition, Ailin helped to tutor K–8 students in reading and mathematics through an after-school program. In the summer of 2023, she led an intersession camp that immersed students in science activities and developed their investigation skills.

At HRI, Ailin is part of the research team for the OpenSciEd Elementary Field Test. She manages all survey administration, collects artifacts of student work, and interviews teachers about their experience with the OpenSciEd materials. In addition, she is part of the research team for the Simulations for Learning and Assessing in Teacher Education (SimulaTE) project, where she interviews preservice teachers as part of an effort to develop simulation assessments.
