Project Description
The overall goal of the Tampa Bay Bridge to the Baccalaureate (B2B) Alliance is to increase the number of students from underrepresented minority (URM) groups transferring into four-year STEM degree programs from the three Alliance colleges: Hillsborough Community College (HCC), St. Petersburg College (SPC), and State College of Florida (SCF) Manatee-Sarasota. The project’s theory of action specifies multiple strategies to accomplish this goal, including (1) increasing students’ math literacy through tutoring, a Summer Bridge program, and adaptive learning technology; (2) increasing success in STEM for students at Alliance colleges through advising, mentorship, peer connections, undergraduate research experiences (UREs), and career exploration; (3) making students aware of four-year STEM degree opportunities and supporting them in the transition; and (4) supporting faculty through professional development in evidence-based instructional strategies.
Evaluation Services
HRI’s evaluation includes giving feedback on the project’s recruitment processes and program activities. HRI also focus on how well the Alliance functions and examines impacts of TB-B2B on students and faculty that participate in program activities.
